Emily Evans, MD

Through early career research opportunities, Emily spent time in Uganda studying cryptococcal and tuberculous meningitis among patients with HIV. She was struck by the effect that HIV infection had on the risk, diagnosis and prognosis of opportunistic infections and became interested in the culture and policies surrounding HIV transmission and control of infection.

Emily first came to Atlanta for medical school which only deepened my interest in public health, advocacy, and HIV and opportunistic infections. She is now back at Emory for Infectious Diseases Fellowship where she is excited to join the TMRC through the Emory T32 training grant and ASTMH Burrough’s Wellcome Fellowship to pursue research related to mycobacterial and fungal opportunistic infections in people living with HIV and health policy.

In her free time, Emily enjoys standup comedy, pottery, and creative cooking.
