About Us

The Tropical Medicine Research Centre for Talaromycosis (TMRC) is a research centre established in 2022, hosted by Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in collaboration with Duke University, USA, and funded by the US National Institutes of Health.

Our focus on talaromycosis in Vietnam is two-fold: Southeast Asia carries the burden of all major AIDS-associated mycoses, and among them talaromycosis is the most neglected.

Long term, we will generate the evidence for region-specific packages of care of advanced HIV disease. For Southeast Asia this will include screening for talaromycosis alongside other major invasive mycoses – cryptococcosis and histoplasmosis.
